Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Comptoir Veritas.
1. Who we are
Comptoir Veritas (“Veritas,” “we,” “us”) operates the website at comptoirveritas.com, a marketplace and price-analysis platform for authenticated watches, handbags, and fine jewelry. The data controller is [Legal entity name], [registered address]. For any privacy question, contact us at Contact@comptoirveritas.com.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account data — your first name, email address, and a password when you create an account. Passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see them in plain text.
- Dealer applications — if you apply to the dealer program, the business details you submit (business name, type, years in business, license/EIN, website, estimated volume).
- Listings & activity — items you list, offers you make, and watchlist selections. Most of this is stored locally in your browser; some is associated with your account if you are signed in.
- Communications — messages you send us through the contact form or by email.
Information collected automatically
- Local storage — we use your browser’s local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your watchlist, offers, and preferences.
- Technical data — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) generated by our host for security and reliability.
3. How we use your information
- To create and operate your account and keep you signed in.
- To provide core features — price analysis, listings, watchlists, offers, and dealer tools.
- To review and respond to dealer applications and support requests.
- To send you service messages (for example, account confirmation or launch notifications you requested).
- To protect the platform against fraud, abuse, and security threats, and to meet legal obligations.
4. Cookies & local storage
We use a small amount of strictly necessary browser storage to run the site (keeping you signed in and remembering your watchlist). We show a notice on your first visit; dismissing it records your acknowledgement. We do not currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and the consent notice accordingly. You can clear this storage at any time in your browser settings, though some features may stop working.
5. Third-party services
We rely on a small set of trusted providers to operate the platform. Each processes data only as needed to provide its service:
- Supabase — authentication and database (stores your account and dealer-application data).
- eBay & the eBay Partner Network — live listing and sold-price data is retrieved from eBay’s APIs, and outbound links to listings may be affiliate links (see below).
- Hostinger — website hosting and server logs.
- Email delivery — transactional email (such as confirmations) is sent through our email provider.
These providers may process and store data outside your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
6. Affiliate links
Some links to third-party marketplaces (such as eBay) are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. These links may pass a tracking identifier to the destination so the sale can be attributed; we do not receive your payment-card details.
7. How long we keep data
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Account → Profile & Settings → Delete account; this removes your account and associated profile and dealer-application records, and clears the data stored in your browser. We may retain limited records where required for legal, security, or accounting reasons.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise many of these directly in your account, or contact us at Contact@comptoirveritas.com and we will respond as required by law.
9. Children
Veritas is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures — encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
